Lubbock Man Accused of Pepper Spraying and Robbing Disabled Man
A Lubbock man has been arrested after being accused of pepper spraying and robbing a disabled man in February of 2021.
The victim, who wasn't identified, told police that he had found some tools for sale on Facebook and agreed to meet up with the owner of the tools in the 4300 block of 52nd Street. There, one of the suspects showed him 2 of the tools he was interested before the victim was sprayed across his face. The victim says the spray burned and irritated his face.
The victim then says he was sprayed again by the suspect, now identified as 28-year-old Sean Ray Barber. KAMC News reports the victim was pushed down and then beaten, getting kicked in the ribs at some point. It's said that Barber and the other suspect stole various items from the victim's pants and vehicle.
Afterwards, the victim tried to drive off in his vehicle, despite not being to see very well. A neighbor noticed this, and after learning of the victim being pepper sprayed, went and grabbed milk to pour on his face in attempt to soothe the irritation.
Barber has been booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center and had his bond set at $20,000.
