Lubbock Police on Tuesday afternoon made an arrest after being called out to the scene of a shooting in north Lubbock.

When officers arrived at a residence in the 500 block of North Flint Avenue, they found a 16 year old who had been shot. The teen was later pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Sixty-four-year-old Kimberly Hozempa (pictured above) was attempting to clean a firearm when it discharged. According to LPD, the bullet from the gun traveled through a wall and struck the 16 year old in another room.

Hozempa was arrested and immediately charged with Negligent Homicide. He's been booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.

LPD's Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is continuing their investigation into this deadly shooting, and additional charges may be pending against Hozempa. He could be arraigned on the Negligent Homicide charge as early as Wednesday.
