In the media there has been lots of talk of UFO's, unidentified flying objects, that some people are actually speculating if other worldly life is real but Texas Tech has already had some visitors, kind of. I am not saying they are aliens but PETA was actually on the Texas Tech campus and brought with them a VR, virtual reality, headset which definitely took me to another world.

This VR experience, named Abduction, is meant to simulate the way animals feel when tested on in labs for experimentation, such as in the world of cosmetics and disease research. As someone who grew up on a farm and doesn't believe in animal testing but does believe in raising my own food I thought I would give this experience a try. I went with my trusty co-worker, just incase I blew away from that dusty Lubbock wind, and sat in PETA's big chair waiting to dive right into the scene.

Once the headset was on I was in a car with two people meant to be my friends and we were stranded in the middle of a desert with a broken down car. That's when we notice a light in the distance that seems to be coming closer to us and my female companion, who needed work on her acting, calls for help. That's when the car radio stops working and we get surrounded by a bright light followed by us being tied down on the mothership.

Yes the mothership where there were a few aliens chattering amongst each other and performing some kinds of experiments on people with you, the VR headset holder, set to be next. You are never next and are just forced to watch as they experiment on a naked woman and man who just scream during the whole thing. Then you get flashbacks of the previous scenes as the chair shakes, I honestly think it was the wind and not the chair itself.

The experience was over very quickly and was asked how I felt and to be honest I really wanted that free cookie they were offering, but did not get. I do not condone animal testing but the experience felt a little off the nose since I don't think the testers make the other animals watch. I would for sure do this experience again though but now I can join one of those alien abductee supports groups with Ryan Gosling.
