Lubbock Mom Needs Help Sending Stockings To Troops
According to KCBD, Sandra Vela wanted to send her daughter, Allie Moya, who is serving in the United States Marine Corps, some Christmas cheer since she would not be home for the holidays this year.
Then the idea grew into a mission to send thousands of stuffed stockings to all military members who won’t be home to see their families for the holidays.
Vela is now asking the community to get involved by donating enough items to send filled stockings to her daughter and three thousand Marines and sailors aboard the ship.
There are donation centers set up at Virginia College, 5005 50th Street; Cavazos Middle School, 220 North University Avenue; and Optimist Boys and Girls Club, 3301 Cornell Street.
Some of the requested items include:
- Hard candy
- Mini pretzels
- Assorted stocking stuffers
- Sunflower seeds
- Starburst candy
- Mini bags of chips
- AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, hand written Christmas cards from families thanking the troops and wishing them Happy Holidays!
Donation boxes will be available at the above locations until November 30th, 2018 and filled stockings will be shipped on December 1st, 2018 so they can be received by Christmas.
