Lubbock Police continue their investigations into 2 separate crashes that happened the night of Thursday, July 1st.

The first crash happened at 8:02 p.m. in the 3800 block of 50th Street. Police responded to a report of a collision with injuries involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

Upon arrival, officers found the driver of the motorcycle, 28-year-old Asa Belton with serious injuries. An investigation revealed that Belton was traveling westbound on 50th Street while the driver of the SUV was attempting to turn west onto 50th Street. The motorcycle and SUV collided in the westbound lanes.

Belton was transported to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Then, a little over 20 minutes later at 8:25 p.m., Lubbock Police responded to another crash in North Lubbock. Officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision in the 5200 block of Clovis Highway.

Police said in a news release that the SUV was traveling north west in the left lane when it veered off the roadway and rolled multiple times. At some point, the passenger, 32-year-old Danielle Sharick was ejected from the SUV. The reason for why the vehicle veered off the roadway wasn't specified in releases.

Sharick was located upon arrival with serious injuries, and the driver, 23-year-old Freddie Sanchez, suffered moderate injuries. Both were transported to University Medical Center. Their current conditions are unknown.
