Lubbock Police Officer Finds Man Covered in Blood, Stabbed in the Back
A Lubbock police officer responded to a building alarm on Thursday, April 14th and found a man that was covered in blood.
KAMC News reports the alarm sounded in the 8100 block of Indiana Avenue at around 3:46 a.m.
The officer walked towards the building and located a man with a large knife. His hand was covered in blood. The officer drew his firearm, but the man immediately fell backward onto the floor. That's when the officer noticed that the man's back was also covered in blood.
The man managed to tell the officer that he had been stabbed in the back on the street. He had apparently shattered a glass door to purposefully set off the alarm and alert authorities. Surveillance footage from the building showed the man struggling to walk with the knife in his hand before walking up to the glass door, shattering it and standing in the doorway.
The man, who wasn't publicly identified, was transported to Covenant Medical Center by EMS for his injuries. His current condition is unknown.
Where exactly the stabbing took place and whether or not the crime was random has yet to be determined. No suspects have been named in this case.
