Something that always gives me a bit of faith in humanity is seeing people doing good deeds. Whether that means offering your coat, holding a door open, picking up someone else's trash or any other kind gesture.

Facebook user Brandi Tadlock posted about a kind act that she drove past the other day. Tadlock said she saw a police car on the side of the road with its lights on along Erskine Street. She assumed someone got pulled over until she noticed that the police car was by itself and the officer was nowhere in sight. She kept going on her way until she eventually found the officer.

Tadlock saw the Lubbock police officer, along with three other men, pushing a truck about a quarter mile down the road. She realized that they must have been making their way to the nearest gas station. It's great to see something like this that shows that there are good people out there.

You could argue that this is simply the officer's job. Just because it's his job to help civilians doesn't negate the good deed, however. I believe most people who go into the police force want to do good and help their community. This incident shows one way they can do that.

I've had my own experience with breaking down and getting stranded on the side of the road. A couple years ago my engine flooded while trying to get home in the rain. Fortunately, there was a police officer who drove past at the right time and stopped to pushed my car out of the road. I'm incredibly thankful for the officer that helped me, and I know I can always depend on the LPD.
