Lubbock Salvation Army Receives Grant from Lowe’s Hometowns
The Salvation Army Texas South Plains' Passage Program was awarded a grant from Lowe's Hometowns to make facility improvements.
2022 will be the first of a 5-year, $100-million commitment to the communities Lowe's serves. According to a Salvation Army press release, Lowe's is intending to help restore and revitalize spaces serving as "the hubs and heartbeats of communities, including neighborhood housing, parks, community centers and much more."
The funding from Lowe's will allow the Salvation Army to upgrade and improve 3 residential housing units on existing property with new roofing, furnishings, windows, doors, appliances, siding, fencing and security. The grant will also allow the Salvation Army to subdivide buildings into separate areas so each program participant can have their own private living space.
Major David Worthy with the Salvation Army said:
We are absolutely honored to have been selected as an award recipient. Just over a year ago, we launched our Passage Program because there existed such vast need to provide supervised independent living services and case management resources for young people who were exiting the foster care system. A year into the program, Lowe’s generosity will allow us to significantly reform and improve our existing facilities to specifically suit the needs of the Passage Program.
The project will begin in mid-July and should be complete by late October 2022.
