Lubbock’s Amazing Aloha BBQ Is Back Open Because Life Is Good
Our digital managing editor Justin stopped by Aloha BBQ (9810 Indiana Ave, #800) to confirm it was open again after I received a hot tip from my pal and photographer extraordinaire, Topher. And hell yeah, it was open.
I was sent just a photo of an open sign with a bright yellow background, and I knew exactly what I was looking at. I'm thrilled that such a wonderful restaurant is open again. The food is fresh, delicious, authentic, and insanely portioned.
A staff member said that Aloha BBQ reopened for business this past Saturday after a lengthy closure due to the ruiner of all things good in the world, COVID-19.
I recommend the chicken BBQ fried rice. You'll get enough to feed a small army, but will likely polish off yourself. The saimin is my personal favorite. It's like ramen (which they also have), but the noodles have a different texture and the broth is a unique flavor. It's also incredibly Hawaiian. My uncle lives there, so I've been blessed to try real Hawaiian food.
I promise that Aloha BBQ is as good as anything I had in Hawaii. They have other island favorites too, like spam musubi and BBQ short ribs.
Aloha BBQ is a tiny place and your food is cooked fresh to order, so I highly recommend calling your order ahead if you have any time constraints: (806) 771-9405.
