Lubbock’s Newest Restaurant Has the Perfect Name: Senor Chubby’s
Lubbock's newest Mexican bar and grill is Senor Chubby's, located at 3410 98th Street, Suite 11. The brand new restaurant opened officially on September 28th, the day this article was published, and I've already eaten there twice.
It's that good.
I started this morning with a fresh homemade tortilla with my go-to of bacon egg and cheese. The salsa is mild, but incredibly flavorful and packs its own kind of punch.
Just because I went simple with the bacon egg and cheese doesn't mean you have to. Senor Chubby's does it right with sausage, chorizo, potatoes, beans and more available for your breakfast burrito. You can go even bigger with Chubby's Burrito (carne asada, potatoes and scrambled eggs with naked stuffed chile relleno), El Jefazo Burrito (beef fajitas with onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, scrambled eggs and cheese), or the Dama Fuerte Burrito (Chile Colorado, potatoes and scrambled eggs).
Are you some kind of heathen that doesn't like God's perfect food, the breakfast burrito? You can still enjoy Senor Chubby's for breakfast and get one of their many breakfast platters, like Gringo Plate, Huevos Rancheros, Migas Plate, pancakes or El Frances (French toast)
As good as the breakfast burrito was, lunch was even better. The rice and beans are solid, the chips and salsa were perfection, and the Chile Relleno was the best I've had in several years. Seriously top-notch.
The Senor Chubby’s Mexican Bar and Grill gets special at lunch from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. As in, lunch specials.
Here’s the lineup according to the Senor Chubby's Website:
- Monday - two crunchy chicken flautas served with rice and beans
- Tuesday – two crunchy or soft beef tacos served with rice and beans
- Wednesday – chile relleno topped with sauce and served with rice and beans
- Thursday – two beef, chicken, or cheese enchiladas served with rice and beans
- Friday – one enchilada, one taco, and one chile relleno served with rice and beans
The dinner menu includes enchiladas, street tacos, flautas, burritos, fajitas, carne guisada and more.
Can't wait to head back to Senor Chubby's to enjoy the full bar and atmosphere now that they're finally open.
