The United Family and Mrs Baird’s Bread today announced the October winners of the third annual 'Teachers On The Rise' program. Since the launch in early September 2012, nominations have poured in from students in the South Plains explaining why their teacher deserves special recognition, and this trio of winners represents the second group of instructors to be honored for the 2014-2015 school year.

The three October winners include Sue Thomas of Preston Smith Elementary (Lubbock ISD), Nicole Line of Olton Junior High (Olton ISD), and Melony Ragland of Lockney High School (Lockney ISD).

“We are thrilled to recognize three outstanding teachers this month for their fantastic service in our community,” said Shelby Crews, senior community relations manager for The United Family. “The Teachers On The Rise program provides an opportunity to reward standout educators for the vital work they do each day.”

Winning teachers receive a $100 United Supermarkets/Market Street/Amigos gift card and a $100 VISA gift card. The students who nominate a winning teacher also receive a $50 VISA gift card.

Three more South Plains teachers – one elementary, middle school and high school – will be named 'Teachers On The Rise' in November and every month for the remainder of the school year. To nominate a teacher in the South Plains, visit www.MrsBTeacher.com.

Teachers On The Rise is also sponsored by American National Bank, the Texas Classroom Teachers Association, KAMC-TV, 102.5 KISS-FM and News Talk 790 KFYO.
