A Lubbock man was arrested on Saturday, October 16th, after it's said he attempted to steal multiple items from a grocery store and hurt an elderly woman in the process.

KAMC News reports that it happened at the United Supermarkets in the 2600 block of Parkway Drive. An employee told police that the suspect, Devane White, had taken multiple items from the shelves, stuffed them in his pants, and attempted to walk out of the store without paying.

An employee attempted to keep White from leaving, but it's said that he resisted. In the process of resisting, White allegedly collided with a 76-year-old employee, knocking her to the ground. The employee was cause bodily harm, and had to be transported to University Medical Center.

The police report stated that White had concealed merchandise with the intent to "deprive United Supermarkets of their property," and during the course of this action, he "recklessly caused bodily injury" to the elderly woman.

White was arrested and charged for aggravated robbery. He remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
