Lubbock Jury Indicts Abraham Delacruz for Aggravated Kidnapping

On Tuesday, a man was indicted by a Lubbock grand jury for a violent attempted kidnapping that occurred in early January 2019.

KAMC News reports that on January 7^th, a Lubbock woman was dropping her kids off at a family member’s home in the 7000 block of Avenue Q when a man got into her car and began to assault her.

According to one report, the man, alleged to be Abraham Delacruz, wrapped his belt around his fist and punched the woman so hard and so many times that her eyes were severely swollen. Delacruz is also alleged to have slammed the woman’s leg in her car door when she tried to escape.

Under threat, the woman was told to drive to a Delacruz's house. She later told police that while driving, she jumped from the moving vehicle to escape. At that point, Delacruz drove off.

Authorities finally found, arrested, and charged the 27-year-old Delacruz on Sunday, January 27^th. He faces an aggravated kidnapping charge and potentially a charge related to his immigration status.

It’s last reported that Delacruz remains in jail on a $75,000 bond. The federal government had also placed an immigration hold on him.
