Matthew McConaughey ‘We’re Texas’ Concert and Fundraiser Happens This Sunday
Matthew McConaughey is the real deal, people. I just finished his book Greenlights, and this guy is about as sincere as they come. He also loves the state of Texas. I mean, he really, really does.
So, about that book. After reading it, you will never question this guy's sincerity, passion and love for all. He's just a really great dude, and this benefit is proof of that.
You have to admit that the lineup is kind of like the "Us Festival" of Texas music. For the country folk, you have superstars like Miranda Lambert, George Strait and Willie Nelson, while the pop crowd gets Kelly Clarkson and Post Malone. Rockers will like Charlie Sexton, Los Lonely Boys and Gary Clark Jr. For you classic rock types, Don Henley will be on hand. There's also a strong red dirt contingent with Randy Rogers and Parker McCollum. I also wouldn't doubt that McConaughey has a whole bag of tricks to pull from as well.
The "We're Texas" relief fund is dedicated to those affected by the recent winter storms in Texas, which claimed the lives of more than 50 people. Fortunately, McConaughey also has the JKLivin Foundation, so a lot of moving parts are already taken care of.
All of this will be streamed from Matthew McConaughey's YouTube channel as a virtual benefit. This is an impressive bit of work to put all these Texas stars together.
