Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 17), before the dismissal of classes at Monterey High School, a bomb threat was posted online to a Lubbock Police Department social media site.

Lubbock Police officers were called to the school to begin an investigation.

According to Lubbock ISD, the responsible party that made the bomb threat was quickly identified and the person admitted the threat was false.

Nevertheless, Monterey High School was cleared and police confirmed no students were in danger. The identity of the person responsible for the threat has not been made public.

Lubbock ISD officials state the district will take "aggressive action" against the person responsible for the hoax. The school district added that it will fully prosecute any actions intended to disrupt instruction of students.
