Mr. Blizzard Hits Lubbock for 40th Anniversary Celebration

It’s a Texas-sized celebration with a swirl of nostalgia and a cherry on top! This summer marks the 40th anniversary of a Texas favorite--the Blizzard! DQ restaurants across the Lone Star State are celebrating the legendary frozen dessert that’s been keeping us cool (and happy) since 1985.

Here’s the Scoop

DQ is bringing the party to Lubbock on June 24! Local fans can meet Mr. Blizzard himself, sample some of this summer’s sweetest new creations, and even take part in interviews and photo ops as we honor four decades of brain-freezing, candy-filled bliss.

For those who don’t know (but seriously, who doesn’t?), the Blizzard is more than just soft serve with mix-ins—it’s a Texas tradition. Created by Samuel Temperato, at a DQ franchisee from St. Louis, the Blizzard made its debut in 1985 and exploded in popularity, selling over 100 million in its very first year!

And since then? More than 170 flavors have come and gone, but that iconic red spoon has stayed the same. And yes—DQ is still flipping them upside down to prove just how thick and creamy they are. It’s not just dessert...it’s a performance.
