Nic Shimonek Accepts Invitation to Shrine Game
On Friday, Texas Tech announced that senior quarterback Nic Shimonek would be playing in the annual East-West Shrine Game, which showcases the top seniors in college football, on January 20th.
Shimonek is the first Texas Tech player to accept an invitation to a postseason game so far. He's also the first Red Raider to play in the Shrine Game since both Seth Doege and current Los Angeles Rams Safety Cody Davis played back in 2012.
Shimonek has passed for 3,547 yards and 30 touchdowns, and holds an impressive 68.2 completion percentage. He ranks fifth in the nation in completion percentage as well as seventh overall in passing yards nationally.
The East-West Shrine game will be held at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. CST. The game will be aired on the NFL Network.
Shimonek will play his last game for the Red Raiders on December 23rd when the Red Raiders play in the Birmingham Bowl against the University of South Florida.
