On This Day in 1969 – Johnny Cash Goes Gold
On August 12th 1969 the album "Johnny Cash At San Quentin", featuring "A Boy Named Sue", was certified Gold.
It went Triple Platinum in May of 2003.
"A Boy Named Sue" was actually a poem by Shel Silverstein. Cash's live version became his biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
