LISTEN TO THE FULL INTERVIEW WITH JUDGE CURTIS PARRISH ABOUT HIS CAMPAIGN FOR REELECTION BELOW.

The March 1st primary date is getting closer and candidates running in the Republican and Democrat primaries are attempting to separate themselves from each other. The same is going on in the race for Lubbock County Judge. In the Republican primary, it's a rematch of sorts between Gary Boren and the incumbent, Curtis Parrish.

Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish is seeking reelection for another term in office. Parrish appeared on Tuesday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show with Matt Martin. Parrish discussed his time in office while also discussing the issue of rising crime in Lubbock. Parrish told KFYO that in his time in office, more "boots on the ground" have been added to the Sheriff's patrol and Lubbock County voters approved the pay increase for deputies. Parrish also said he was concerned about rising crime and very concerned about juvenile crime.

What we see is this corollary between crime and the increase in juvenile crime. And so as County Judge I've been focused on juveniles. So in our juvenile justice center. Right now we are in the planning stages of building a new education center at the juvenile justice detention center. What this state of the art center will do, and this is what I believe. For juveniles, education is one of the keys. The whole point of juvenile justice system is to turn juvenile offenders from becoming adult offenders.

Parrish also discussed the Lubbock County Expo Center and other issues facing Lubbock County.
