Paul McCartney paid his respects to Lubbock, Texas native Buddy Holly with a touching cover of "It's So Easy."

It's well known that McCartney is a huge Buddy Holly fan. He's also been photographed wearing a Texas Tech University jersey. So while it's no big surprise that he played the song, it was still a great treat for both the packed United Supermarkets Arena and the legendary musician.

"You don't know how exciting it is for me to be here in Lubbock, Texas," McCartney told the audience.

During the performance of "It's So Easy," the big screens behind McCartney displayed pictures and videos of Buddy Holly performing and having fun with friends.

McCartney received nearly a whole minute of applause from the Lubbock crowd after performing the classic song. But he got another big pop from the crowd after explaining just how much of an impact the bespectacled crooner had on his musical career.

"We just followed that guy, followed his records...and that was really the beginning of The Beatles," said McCartney.
