Lubbock Police have asked permission to permanently seize over $30,000 that was taken from a Lubbock man after searching his home.

If permission is granted by a judge, the money that was obtained through the search of the home would go to a law enforcement forfeiture fund.

Back on March 1st, Lubbock Police searched the home of a Lubbock man, whose name will not be listed "due to concerns for his safety." What exactly led to the obtaining of a search warrant for the man's house and any details around actions he may have taken prior were not listed.

After searching the man's home, Police found over 100 grams of cocaine, a safe with a little over $27,000 inside, a gun (unspecified) with multiple magazines, over 30 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy or Molly), 0.194 ounces of marijuana, small plastic bags which indicate drug trafficking, and much more. $1000 was also located inside of the man's truck.

KAMC News reports that officers also found over $31,000 in the man's master bedroom.

The man claimed to have been receiving unemployment checks that totaled almost $17,000. The man, however, admitted that much of the $27,000 found inside of his safe was obtained through drug sales.

The man was charged with 2 counts of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and money laundering. As of Monday, March 22nd, he was not listed in Lubbock County jail records.
