Did you know that radio listening continues to increase? That's right -- it's getting bigger, not smaller.

The thing that is changing is how some people get their radio. Some have a shelf unit, clock radio, boombox or whatever in their house. Almost everyone has radio in their cars, and a lot of people listen to radio online or on their smartphones.

Radio was such a technological leap forward that people don't recognize it for its convenience and ease of use. There's an old saying that if radio was invented after TV, people would be saying, 'great, now I can be entertained and I don't have to sit around and waste time looking at pictures.' The same goes for radio in general. If radio came out after the internet, people would be saying, 'this is great, I get to be entertained and I don't have to have a home connection, a phone and it's free? Wow!'

Sure, we may only be part of your entertainment diet, but that's how it's always been. The people who listen to satellite or whatever are the same people that buried their noses in cassettes and eight-tracks. We can't be all things to all people, but we can be a lot of things to a lot of people.

So thank you to one and all for sharing a bit of your day with our radio stations. We do appreciate it, and I promise you that for most of us our priority is entertaining you, hanging out with you and making sure you have a pretty good day.
