Robots Take Over the Science Spectrum for One Day Only – Here’s How to Join the Fun
If you’ve ever wanted to see what the future looks like—or better yet, drive it—then mark your calendar for this Saturday, April 5th because the Texas Tech Robotics Fair is back at the Science Spectrum and OMNI Theater, and it’s gonna be buzzing (and probably whirring) with activity from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Hosted by the Texas Tech Robotics Association, this FREE event is the perfect weekend outing for students, families, tech nerds, or anyone who thinks robots are cool (which should be everybody, by the way). Local organizations from Texas Tech University and around Lubbock will be showing off real, working robots—and I'm not talking about Roombas!
I'm talking Lego programming, autonomous bots, drivable robots, and hands-on demos where kids can actually control the action. Whether your little one dreams of building Mars rovers or your teen is knee-deep in coding, this event is designed to spark curiosity and show how engineering and robotics can lead to exciting careers.
And did I mention it’s free?!? That’s right—the Robotics Fair is happening in the Atrium of the Science Spectrum, and it won’t cost you a dime to check it out. (Standard admission applies if you want to visit the museum itself, though.)
If you want to go full-on tech geek for the day, you can also catch a special screening of the OMNI Theater’s giant screen film “Dream Big: Engineering Our World”—a movie that’s all about how engineers are shaping the future in the coolest ways possible. Showtimes are 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on April 5th only, and tickets are just $5 per person that day.
Whether your kids are future inventors or you’re just looking for something different to do in Lubbock this weekend, this is one of those local events you’ll be glad you didn’t miss. Come for the robots, stay for the science, and maybe walk away with a new appreciation for what engineering can do!
For more info, head to ScienceSpectrum.org, and we’ll see you (and the robots)this Saturday!
