Check Your Pantry — There’s Been a Massive Canned Chicken Recall
Member’s Mark Canned Chicken Recall
Tony Downs Food Company, Inc. has issued a massive recall of canned chicken sold under the Sam's Club Member’s Mark brand because there could be pieces of hard plastic inside.
If you have purchased either of the Member’s Mark canned chicken products seen in the gallery above, you are urged to throw it away immediately or return it to the place of purchase.
The recall was announced one day after after two customers discovered the "extraneous material contamination" and reported it.
This recall affects more than 96,000 pounds of canned chicken produced on Nov. 28 and Nov. 29, 2017 and sold at Sam’s Club locations nationwide.
Here's a description of both products being recalled:
- 12.5-oz. cans in a case containing 6 cans of “Member’s Mark PREMIUM Natural Chunk CHICKEN BREAST IN WATER” with lot code 17333, case code 9816 and a use-by date of Nov. 29, 2020.
- 50-oz. cans in a case containing 6 cans of “Member’s Mark FOOD SERVICE PREMIUM Natural Chunk CHICKEN BREAST IN WATER” with lot code 17332, case code 9817 and a use-by date of Nov. 28, 2019.
