San Antonio Turns 300 Next Year [VIDEO]

All of 2018 will be a birthday/party year for the city of San Antonio. Texas' oldest city, and one of the first in what is now called America, will turn 300 years old in 2018.

Although native people had lived in the area for many years, San Antonio was really called San Antonio May 1st 1718 when the Mission San Antonio de Valero, later known as the Alamo (remember that place?) was established. In honor of the 300th anniversary the whole city is throwing a year long party!

Plus it will all start with a FREE concert New Year's Eve by REO Speedwagon.

The Tricentennial Commission and the City of San Antonio is proud to host the 2017 New Year’s Eve Celebration, the kick-off of San Antonio’s 300th birthday celebration. This free concert will take over Hemisfair Park’s crown jewel, Civic Park, and will be open to the public. San Antonio’s biggest birthday is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and everyone is included.
