Lubbock’s Science Spectrum Bringing Back a Favorite Christmas Tradition
If you’re looking for a way to kick off the holiday season with the kids and sneak in a little hands-on learning, the Science Spectrum in Lubbock has you covered. Their annual Holiday Wonderland event returns Saturday, December 6th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, and it’s packed with festive fun the whole family can enjoy--without costing you a dime!

Free Holiday Fun for Lubbock Families
One of the things that makes Holiday Wonderland such a local favorite is how much it offers for free. Families can take photos with Santa (just remember to bring your own camera), decorate and enjoy holiday cookies, sip warm cocoa, and even make Christmas-themed S.T.E.A.M. crafts.

Kids can also meet some of the Science Spectrum’s resident critters, explore hands-on winter science experiments, and catch “cool” live demonstrations throughout the event.
And if your family loves Christmas displays, don’t miss the Science Spectrum’s giant Christmas tree, complete with running model trains and festive decorations spread throughout the museum lobby and Exhibit Hall.
A Holiday Adventure for Curious Kids
Holiday Wonderland is designed especially for children ages 3 to 12, though families of all ages will find something to enjoy. The whole event takes place in the lobby and Exhibit Hall, so you don’t need museum tickets to take part. Everything listed above is 100% free.
For those who want to keep the fun going, regular admission applies for full access to the Museum or a showing at the OMNI Theater, one of Lubbock’s most iconic family attractions.
And here’s a fun bonus: Keep an eye out for the Science Spectrum’s very own Elf on the Shelf, “Atom.” If your kids spot him, they can win a special prize--just another reason this event has become a beloved tradition for Lubbock parents.
What to Know Before You Go
The Science Spectrum encourages families to call 806-745-2525 or visit sciencespectrum.org for additional details. As always, the museum continues its mission as a local nonprofit dedicated to hands-on science education right here in West Texas.
