Today (April 6), the Republican led U.S. Senate voted to implement the "nuclear option" and eliminate the filibuster option for Supreme Court nominees. Now, instead of needing 60 votes for confirmation, confirmation can be done with 51 votes.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R- Texas) spoke earlier today, after defeating an attempt by Democrats to block Judge Neil Gorsuch's nomination saying,

"We have actually restored the status quo before the Administration of President George W. Bush. It was during that Administration when some of Democrats dreamed up a way of block President George W. Bush's judicial nominees."

Senator Cornyn also said,

"President Trump has selected a judge with impeccable qualifications and the highest integrity."

Senator Cornyn will be on KFYO's Chad Hasty Show tomorrow morning (April 7), at 8:42 a.m to discuss the Gorsuch confirmation. You can listen on News/Talk 95.1 FM and 790 AM, online at or through your tablet or phone with the radioPup app.

After more than 30 hours of debate on the Senate floor, the Gorsuch confirmation vote will be on Friday.
