Red Raider football is officially back, and whether you’re inside Jones AT&T Stadium or grilling burgers out in the parking lot, Saturdays in September are the best kind of chaos. College football vibes are alive all over the Hub City, and if you’re an NFL fan, you’ll be catching plenty of Cowboys, Texans and Chiefs talk around town. Add in high school Friday night lights, and you’ve basically got football every direction you turn.

2. Big Screens, Big Stars

If you’re a movie fan, September’s lineup is loaded. Over at Premiere Cinemas or Alamo Drafthouse, you’ll be able to catch Spinal Tap 2 on the 12th, and later in the month, Leonardo DiCaprio takes on Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. It’s the perfect excuse to grab a giant tub of popcorn!

3. TV is Stacked This Month

For the homebodies (no shame in that game), there’s almost too much good TV to keep up with. The Office spinoff The Paper drops this week, Only Murders in the Building is back, Dancing with the Stars kicks off mid-month, and somehow The Simpsons is already rolling into season 37. Yes, 37! You could basically spend the entire month binge-watching, but don’t worry—no one in Lubbock will judge.

Sure, it still feels like summer outside, but the official first day of fall hits September 22nd. Before long, patio weather will be here, corn mazes will start popping up, and you’ll be sipping pumpkin spice EVERYTHING!

5. A Month Full of Quirky Holidays

September’s got some fun extras sprinkled in. Grandparents Day is the 7th, Talk Like a Pirate Day is the 19th, Oktoberfest kicks off the 20th, and of course, National Coffee Day is on the 29th. Lubbock has no shortage of coffee shops to celebrate that one, right?

So don’t sweat that Labor Day’s behind us—Lubbock’s just getting warmed up!
