Update #2: Lubbock Fire Chief Shaun Fogerson briefed the press in Lubbock Monday afternoon following the fatal plane crash.

"At approximately 3:58 p.m., LPD received a call that there was a plane crash in a backyard at 209 East 37th Street," said Chief Fogerson. "LFR was subsequently notified of a single-engine Cessna in an undeclared emergency that had crashed into the backyard at that address. Currently, the fire at the scene is out, the scene is under control. There were no injuries on the ground, and there were no damages to structures other than a fence in the backyard at that address."

"We can confirm there has been one fatality in the airplane that we know of at this time," Chief Fogerson added.

"At approximately 4:18 p.m., the FAA, the FBI and TSA were notified and responded to the scene immediately. The scene is currently under their control," Chief Fogerson said.

According to Chief Fogerson, the area around the plane crash will be shut down until the FBI, TSA and other groups have concluded their investigations. He would not comment on whether weather played a role in the crash.

Chief Fogerson said planes of the size and model that crashed can sit between one and six people. It's currently unknown how many people may have been on the plane when it crashed.
