Snow Is Expected in Lubbock This Week. Residents Prepare Their Wills.
Snow is coming to Lubbock.
We're all gonna die.
Well, eventually...but probably not this week.
That's right. Just 2 days after being in the 80’s for high temperatures in the Hub City. The Snow Miser is bringing his icy grip to The South Plains.
No, we are not kidding.
Here is a screenshot of the weather app on Lance’s trusty dusty Samsung Gala:
KAMC's own Ron Roberts is saying there could more than 4 inches in Lubbock on Tuesday, October 27th, 2020:
Forty percent chance of snow. Of course, we also have a 60 percent chance of ice, which is just as bad, if not worse.
It’s usually at these moments when people decide to live in a bubble of deniability, and say something to the effect of: 'Nahhh, it’s no big deal. We get snow here every winter.' Well, yes, we do. Not a whole lot, though, and certainly not this early in the season.
There are also those who have the opinion that when the first snowflake floats through teh gray West Texas skies...it's the end of the world. As if Covid-19 wasnt enough for us this year... IT'S A SIGN! WE'RE DOOMED!! Just calm down people...you've still got plenty of toilet paper stashed away from the hoarding that took place earlier this year.
However, forecasts have been wrong before. And, we’re not immune to seriously gnarly snowfall here in West Texas. So, should we expect to get hammered here this week? Perhaps, but it’s never a bad idea to be too cautious.
The biggest concern, could be ice. Which means that we could be driving on a skating rink by Tuesday Morning. Not exactly the ideal commute. The fortunate thing is, many of us are becoming accustomed to telecommuting or working from home over the past few months of Pandemipalooza. So, having proper planning for what may be a severe weather event could be prudent.
Then again, we may not get much of anything during this round of cold weather, which would be a welcome instance. But admit it, isn’t there just a little part of all of us who really, seriously, wants to see 7-10 inches of fluffy white stuff all over the place?
Snow days are awesome. Just don’t forget the bread and milk. Or, in my case, the bourbon and cheese.
