United Supermarkets Highlights a Texas-Made Grain-Free Granola
United Supermarkets corporate dietitian Brenda Garcia loves highlighting local products and local producers — and so do we!
She recently shared Sorrells Farms' pecan granola with us. It's grain-free but packed with flavor: pecans, sunflower seeds, coconut, honey, dried cherries, coconut oil, goji berries, natural vanilla flavor and salt. (If you haven't heard of goji berries before, according to Healthline.com, they have "a sweet, slightly sour flavor" and are packed with antioxidants.) Garcia said she uses the granola to make a cobbler crust and stashes some in her desk for a snack.
Sorrells Farms, family owned and operated and situated on 1,200 acres in Comanche County, grow pecans, watermelons, cantaloupes, tomatoes, jalapenos, and peaches, according to their website.
