Omar Soto-Chavira was indicted in Hockley County on a capital murder charge and an attempted capital murder charge after a deadly standoff with authorities.
A Lubbock man was arrested in Hockley County on Monday, August 30th after being accused of an aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon back in October of 2020.
Omar Soto-Chavira was officially charged with the murder of Lubbock County Sheriff SWAT Sgt. Josh Bartlett on Wednesday. Soto-Chavira was booked into the Hockley County Jail, hours after being released from a hospital.
Soto-Chivara was arrested on five different offenses on June 29 and posted bail for $66,000 on July 11, four days before the deadly standoff in Levelland.
Lubbock County Sheriff's Office SWAT Commander Sgt. Josh Bartlett was killed Thursday afternoon. The suspect, a 22 year-old man, was arrested at 11:30pm on Thursday.
The standoff that started Friday afternoon in Levelland turned into a shootout in which four members of law enforcement were wounded. One of the four later died in Levelland
