The National Weather Service's Lubbock office has issued a High Wind Warning for the many South Plains counties, including Hockley, Lubbock and Crosby.
During yesterday's haboob a Dallas area meteorologist, Jesse Hawila, had to cover weather in such a way that the closed caption was not scripted in advance and text-to-speech apparently doesn't recognize the word "haboob".
The watch is in effect until 3am on June 2nd. Potential severe storms could move into the South Plains from the Texas Panhandle and Eastern New Mexico over the next 6 to 7 hours.
More rain and the potential for severe thunderstorms are in the forecast for Memorial Day Weekend across the region so take caution while driving and avoid those unintended consequences.
