After Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill that dissolved the Reedy Creek Improvement District on Friday, Fort Bend County Judge KP George invited Disney to relocate to Texas.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District was a legal zone in which Disney was able to operate as an independent government around its theme parks. This zone allowed Disney to cut through legal red tape for taxes as long as they were responsible for their own municipal services. This was in place for 55 years until Disney CEO Bob Chapek openly opposed Florida's so-called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill that was implemented and that they would no longer be giving any political donations in Florida.

Governor DeSantis decided to retaliate to this opposition by dissolving the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

Judge KP George tweeted on April 21st, 2022 to invite Disney to move to Fort Bend County, and many Texans were not happy about it.

While most of the replies to Judge KP George’s invitation were along the lines of the tweet seen above, some people shared how they believe it would be a great idea. Twitter user @Apollo_Creed_ shared how they believe it would provide opportunities for the city of Houston and the surrounding areas.

While having a Disney park in Texas sounds like a great idea, Twitter user @tree_duh replied to this positive tweet with their own perspective.

While it's unknown if moving to Texas is something that Disney would ever consider, it's an interesting concept to think about. Texas definitely has the space for a theme park, and it could be a great opportunity to provide more jobs within Texas, but it could also be a major risk.
