Texas Gubernatorial Candidate Promises Cowboys Super Bowl If Elected
Don Huffines is running in the Republican Primary toward his ultimate goal of being governor of the Great State of Texas, along with candidates like incumbent Greg Abbott, Chad Prather, and Allen West.
Now, I'm not often political, but sometimes a statement is made that's so outrageous that I get pulled in hook, line and sinker.
Huffines got me this morning after I saw an ad that ran during the Dallas Cowboys' latest loss, this time at the hands of Kliff Kingsbury and the Arizona Cardinals. (As an aside, Kyler Murray moved to 9-0 in AT&T Stadium all-time at any level, and former Red Raider Antoine Wesley caught two touchdowns.)
Back to the race for governor. Politicians often make promises. It's happened since 6th grade when presidential candidates were promising a better variety in the vending machine. It's happening in every country in every election; politicians want to key in on what the people want and promise them to go get it for them.
Most of the time the promises are about tax rates, education or issues at the border. Huffines covers all of that, but he takes it a step further because he's really got his finger on the pulse of what's important in Texas.
Super Bowls. Seriously.
It's time for Texans to get their swagger back, and there's not a better recipe for Texan swagger than Jerry Jones and the boys hoisting the first Lombardi in Dallas Arlington since 1996.
We can't let Florida keep beating us in important issues like border control, praying in school, and...Super Bowls.
