Depending on how well you know Texas, this news may or may not surprise you. When it comes to diversity, Texas ranks among the most diverse states in the United States.

WalletHub recently set out to find which states were the most and least diverse. According to a press release, WalletHub looked at many different factors for their rankings.

With racial equality being a hot-button issue in 2020 and Hispanic Heritage Month in full swing, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2020’s Most & Least Diverse States in America, as well as accompanying videos.

To determine where the most idea and identity exchanges have occurred at the highest level in the U.S. — and where the population is relatively more homogeneous — WalletHub compared the 50 states across six key categories: socio-economic, cultural, economic, household, religious and political diversity.

According to WalletHub, Texas ranked as the second most diverse state. Texas ranked right behind California in 2020. Hawaii, New Jersey, and New York rounded out the top 5 most diverse states in the United States.

The least diverse states in America may not surprise anyone. Montana, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and West Virginia ranked as the least 5 diverse states.

Texas' ranking shouldn't surprise anyone. Houston is regularly ranked highly for diversity and the state continues to grow in population every year. Many of those moving to Texas are coming from California and all over the wold.
