Texas Tech University has been approved for a COVID-19 distribution location for its students.

Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec sent out a letter on Monday, January 4th, 2021 that a committee had been formed to coordinate the process once the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines become available in later phases.

The committee will be co-chaired by Chris Miles, emergency management director, and Vickie Sutton, Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Biodefense, Law and Public Policy.

As of the publication of this article, only healthcare workers and those in vulnerable populations can receive the vaccine. The vulnerable include those with cancer, kidney disease and various other chronic conditions. Those falling into one of these categories are asked to contact their primary care physician regarding access to the vaccine, or visit the City of Lubbock Health Department website for information regarding vaccination clinics.

More updates concerning plans to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine will be made as soon as that information becomes available.

All are asked to continue to adhere to health and safety protocols outlined in the Texas Tech Commitment, which includes wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing and frequently washing your hands.

Questions about the COVID-19 distribution location and more can be submitted via email to: covid19@ttu.edu.
