The Big 12 and SEC are absolutely stacked as conferences when it comes to Baseball. The Red Raiders, TCU, and Texas are all in the top 10 according to D1baseball.com and the SEC has Florida, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Arkansas in the same poll's top 10.

Six of those 10 will all be at the Texas Rangers' new ballpark Globe Life Field in Arlington to open their seasons starting on February 19th. The event will be called the State Farm College Baseball Showdown and it's going to be electric. It could be a legitimate preview for the College World Series. The field is that good.

Texas Tech will face three SEC contenders at Globe Life starting on Friday night where they'll throw out the first pitch against No. 8 Arkansas at 7 p.m. February 19th. The weekend continues Saturday afternoon as Tech faces No. 6 Ole Miss at 3 p.m. The Red Raiders conclude their stay Sunday at 11 a.m. against No. 7 Mississippi State.

Tickets are on sale now for the event at Texasrangers.com/collegebaseballshowdown.

Texas Tech will also participate in the Shriners college classic, though some changes are being made in that event after Texas A&M pulled out because they didn't want to play TCU and Texas Tech in the same weekend.

Texas Tech has never played at Globe Life Field, but they played at Globe Life Park in 2017 against UT Arlington where they lost 5-1. Texas Tech finished the 2020 season with a 16-3 record and their final two games of the season were losses to Mississippi State, a team they'll get to face in Arlington
