The Red Raiders Advance in the NCAA Tournament
There was never a doubt in my mind that Texas Tech would beat Utah State and advance in the NCAA tournament. Even when the Red Raiders were trailing by three at the end of the first half shooting 28% from the field and getting outrebounded by the Aggies. I had faith the second half from Texas Tech would be a classic Red Raider performance and that's exactly what it was.
The Red Raiders defense tightened up and the Red Raiders shots finally started falling in the second half as the Red Raiders opened the second half on a 26 to 9 run in the first 10 minutes of the second half to lead 49-35 with 10 minutes remaining. Texas Tech would hold on for the final 10 minutes to claim a final of 65 to 53.
It was playing like this that dictated the Red Raiders' dominant second half. Clarence Nadolny dives to get a steal and gets the heads-up pass to Micah Peavy to get the wide open dunk in transition.
The Red Raiders had four starters in double figures with Kyler Edwards, Terrence Shannon Jr., Mac McClung and Kevin McCullar all getting at least 10 points. McClung would lead all scorers with 16 points.
Neemias Queta for Utah State was the Aggies player of the game nearly getting a triple-double with points, rebounds and blocks.
