The Texas Tech baseball team has gone through some major changes since they lost to Stanford in the Lubbock Super Regional to end their 2021 season. The roster has completely turned over as well with Micah Dallas and Nate Rombach entering the transfer portal and stars like Cal Conley and Patrick Monteverde leaving via the MLB draft.

There are some returners including infielders Cole Stilwell and the reigning Big 12 player of the year Jace Jung, but there will be a number of new faces in the 2022 lineup.

We'll be able to get our first look at the Red Raiders on October 25th in a live exhibition game against the Texas Rangers Instructional League. The contest will be free to the public and the first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.

The Rangers' Instructional League team started a 17-game fall slate back on September 30th and will finish with the Red Raiders and a few other college programs in the final week of October. The Rangers Instructional League roster will also travel to Dallas Baptist where they'll see former Red Raider Nate Rombach, and then two Big 12 schools in Baylor and TCU.

Former Red Raider Josh Jung is not going to be making the trip to Lubbock to play for the Rangers after spending the season in AA and AAA hitting .326 with 19 home runs across both teams. Jung knocked in 61 batters in 78 games and had an OPS of .990.

The Rangers' first-round draft pick Jack Leiter also won't be in attendance but former Oregon OF Aaron Zavala will likely be in Lubbock with the Rangers in late October.
