Both McLane Carter and Colt Garrett have announced via twitter that they will enter the transfer portal and leave Texas Tech University.

Carter announced his decision earlier this week after missing spring practice with injury. The Senior quarterback will transfer out after spending the 2017 season as the primary back up and winning the job in the 2018 season and getting hurt in week one. Carter played in 10 total games as a Red Raider and threw for 677 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions.

Colt Garrett will also leave the Texas Tech program and will be a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility left in his career. He will leave Texas Tech with a perfect quarterback rating after throwing a 44 yard touchdown pass on his only passing attempt in his Texas Tech career. I wouldn't want to ruin that stat line either.

That leaves the Quarterback room at four dudes. Alan Bowman, Jett Duffey, Xavier Martin and Caleb Griffin. There have already been three grad transfers added this week from Matt Wells and company, so it isn't out of the question to add another body or two to the mix for depth. In the 2019 class, Maverick McIvor is committed and coming in the fall, but coming off of a knee injury his availability in a tight spot would be a question mark.

Regardless, if you are playing you're 5th or 6th quarterback down the roster, things have gone terribly and horribly wrong.
