The United Family will be placing a limit on the number of customers that will be in their stores at one time.

According to a press release, store guest counts will be limited to 20 percent of a store’s normal occupancy rate. The change comes as COVID-19 cases in Lubbock County continue to rise despite Mayor Dan Pope's multiple disaster declarations, which include a stay-at-home order through April 30th.

The change will affect United Supermarkets, Market Street, and Amigos locations in Lubbock. In addition, grocery aisles will be marked for one-way traffic to improve social distancing by using floor decals to indicate the direction of traffic flow.

United has already installed plexi-glass panels at checkout stands and deli counters at some of their locations to provide a barrier between team members and quests, and will continue to use sanitization teams to keep their stores clean.

United’s new guest limit policy was announced on April 7th, 2020, and will go into effect later this week. It’s unclear exactly how long the guest limit policy will remain.
