United Supermarkets’ Tips for Beating the Heat with Seafood
Seafood can be the unsung hero of proteins, and now is a great time of year to try grilling them. You can cook them fast on the grill and not have to ensure the heat for too long, suggested Brenda Garcia, corporate dietician for United Supermarkets.
For example, salmon is rich in both protein and omega-3 fatty acids that provide a variety of nutritional benefits. Many people like to soak a cedar plank in water, toss the salmon on it, and grill it for extra flavor.
Another easy grilling option is shrimp. Garcia suggested adding them to a salad or making shrimp tacos with mango and pico de gallo. Here are a few other shrimp recipes from United Supermarkets' searchable recipe index:
- Ginger Lime Marinated Shrimp Skewers
- Green Tea Shrimp with Lemon Ginger Sauce
- Tuscan Shrimp with Lemon Orzo
- Shrimp Boil Packets
- Grilled Harissa Flatbread with Shrimp
And here are some general fish and seafood recipes:
- Blackened Fish Tacos with Cilantro-Lime Slaw
- Orange Basil Grilled Salmon
- Pecan Crusted Halibut with Lemon Wine Sauce
- Grilled Salmon Bites
For seasoning and cooking suggestions, you can always ask the seafood monger in any United Supermarket location for ideas, Garcia said. They will also season and steam seafood for free—great flavors, and you can avoid the heat from your grill or oven altogether!
