A woman was arrested in Lubbock on Tuesday (Oct. 15) after leading police on a car chase.

The Lubbock Police Department says the incident began at around 5:30 p.m. near 82nd Street and Avenue D after a woman reportedly fired a gun in the area after getting into some kind of altercation.

Emails from Lubbock Police Department Lt. Ray Mendoza to KFYO News and other media outlets referred to the suspect as suicidal and asked reporters to stay away from the area.

When police responded to the scene, the woman drove away. KAMC News reports she led police on a car chase through south and east Lubbock before stopping in the 2200 block of 96th Street at about 7 p.m.

Officers initiated a standoff with the woman, and by 7:30 p.m. police say she was in custody. She has yet to be identified, and police are still investigating.
