United Family Corporate Dietician Brenda Garcia popped into our studios recently to talk about heart health. Of course, United Family has all sorts of ways you can "heart your cart" but Garcia focused on foods with omega-3 fatty acids:

1) Walnuts: Sprinkle them on salads or vegetable dishes

2) Chia seeds: Mix in oatmeal or yogurt and let them rest a few minutes so they hydrate enough to be easier to digest.

3) Flaxseed. The ground form is easier to digest.

4) Salmon: You can grab a Ready Meal with salmon and browse United Supermarkets' recipes for inspiration. There are so many ways to season and cook salmon that it's relatively easy to make it a part of your menu planning.

Beyond meal planning, United Family offers some great shopping tips on its blog for making heart-smart decisions as you shop. Click here to read how to "heart your cart," and be sure to look for the "heart lifestyle" tags when you're shopping. Those tags denote items that are low fat, low saturated fat, low cholesterol, and have 480 milligrams or less of sodium per serving.

And last but not least, check out the Sincerely Healthy app. It's designed to reward you as you build better health habits, from eating healthier to moving more to achieving better sleep. With just a few clicks, you could be on your way to creating better wellness habits!
