If your idea of a relaxing weekend at Buffalo Springs Lake normally involves a lawn chair, something cold to drink and absolutely no physical exertion whatsoever, you might notice things are going to be a little louder than usual this weekend.

Off-road motorcycle racing is coming to Buffalo Springs Lake August 29th and 30th as the WTXRC Extreme Racing Circuit brings the Buffalo Springs Lake Grand Prix to Lubbock.
West Texas Racing Comes to Buffalo Springs Lake
According to event organizers RC410 and the WTXRC Racing Family, racing will take place on the west end of Buffalo Springs Lake.
The start, scoring and racer sign-up area will be located just past the bridges near Campground B.

The Buffalo Springs Lake Grand Prix is one stop on the organization's 2026 racing schedule, which has included events at Outback Adventure Park, Lake Mackenzie, Lake Greenbelt and Beast Mode MX. Upcoming races are also scheduled for Elk City, Spur Ranch and Amarillo.

Make a Weekend Out of It
This isn't being promoted as something only racers can enjoy.
Spectators and families are invited to come out, watch the racing, cheer on their favorite riders and, considering we're still talking about August in Lubbock, cool off in Buffalo Springs Lake afterward!
Camping will also be available. Book your spot HERE.

Campground B offers full restroom and shower facilities, while tent camping is available at the West End campground.
For racers, gate admission is $20 per car. Organizers say regular Buffalo Springs Lake gate admission rates will apply to spectators.
Racing, Camping and a West Texas Weekend
The event is part of the WTXRC Extreme Racing Circuit's eight-event 2026 schedule, which began March 28th-29th and is scheduled to continue through November.
The Buffalo Springs Lake race falls almost right in the middle of the season and gives Lubbock-area residents an opportunity to see the racing without having to make a road trip.
It's also a pretty unusual combination for a weekend: dirt bikes, racing, camping and a day at the lake all rolled into one.
Buffalo Springs Lake GP Details
The Buffalo Springs Lake Grand Prix takes place Saturday and Sunday, August 29th-30th, 2026, on the west end of Buffalo Springs Lake.
Racer sign-up, scoring and the starting area will be just past the bridges near Campground B.
So bring the family, find a spot to watch the riders and prepare for a considerably louder weekend at the lake.
As RC410 puts it:
"COME GET SOME… THEN JUMP IN THE LAKE!"
In late August in West Texas, that last part might be the easiest decision anybody makes all weekend.
