Colorado QB Dismissed From Team, Davis Webb Rejoices
Ex-Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb just got a little closer to being a starting QB again as the news comes out that the QB that finished the season for the 2015 Buffs has been released from the team.
Cade Aspay started after injuries allowed him to top the depth chart. Aspay was 59-92 passing for 582 yards, with three touchdowns and five interceptions in two starts.
The dismissal means that Davis Webb is that much closer to being the starting QB for the Colorado Buffs.
When Webb gets to Colorado, he will be in a QB battle with a red shirt freshman Steven Montez, senior Jordan Gehrke and WR/QB Jaleel Awini. And those are just the three that will be in spring training.
Senior Sefo Liufau will rejoin the team in the fall after his residual 2015 foot injury resolves itself. So, by the time Davis Webb arrives in the summer, the Buffs will have five options at QB.
Whatever happens in spring, many expect for the battle to start in the fall and be a 2 horse race between Liufau and Webb.
Liufau has appeared in 31 games with 7,389 yards and a 49/29 touchdown to interception ratio, while Webb has thrown for 5,557 yards and 46 touchdowns in his career and thrown 22 interceptions in 23 games played with a bowl win.
Colorado hasn't been to a bowl game since 2007 and hasn't won one since 2004. For what it's worth, Webb is also 1-0 vs Pac 12 teams.
For Webb's sake, I hope he wins the job and Colorado goes bowling for the first time in 10 years. Give 'em hell, Webb.
