It is a sad day indeed for the smut industry. Harry Reems has died of pancreatic cancer.  He was 65.

Harry was best known for his work in the 1972 film "Deep Throat" and the following year's "The Devil in Miss Jones".  But he got his start in the industry purely by accident.

Harry (whose real name was Herbert Streicher) was trying to forge a career in the legitimate film industry. He took a job on the "Deep Throat" lighting crew for the experience.

But the director had trouble finding male actors for the film, so he gave Harry a part in the film and paid him $250 for his efforts.

Like many in the industry, Harry ended up with substance abuse problems. But he cleaned himself up in 1989, and went on to build a very successful real estate career in Utah, where he lived until his death.
