Former Texas Tech Quarterback Alan Bowman Is Headed to Michigan
Former Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman is transferring to the University of Michigan.
Bowman made the announcement Sunday afternoon via his Twitter account:
Bowman played in 19 games with Texas Tech over three seasons and finished his Red Raider career with 5,260 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, 17 interceptions and two season-ending injuries.
In 2020, Bowman was benched in favor of Henry Colombi, but eventually regained the starting job after leading Texas Tech to a win against Baylor.
Bowman entered the transfer portal on January 22nd. He will be immediately eligible for the Michigan Wolverines. Bowman will have three seasons of eligibility with Jim Harbaugh and the Big Blue, who went 2-4 in 2020.
Michigan has already started spring football, so Bowman will join the team in the summer session and compete for the starting job against freshmen Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy. Last year's starters Joe Milton and Dylan McCaffery both left Michigan via the transfer portal.
The quarterbacks will be mentored by new quarterbacks coach Matt Weiss, who came to Michigan from the Baltimore Ravens.
