Robin Hawkins with the United Supermarket family stopped by to discuss March being National Nutrition Month. In conjunction, the group has kicked off a free fruit program for kids.

Customers shopping at United, Market Street or Amigos markets in West Texas or the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex are able to pick up a card (shown in the video) for a free snack-size apple, orange or banana for their children.

This ensures that children are getting one of the recommended two servings of fruit per day, said Hawkins.

She also introduced me to the Sumo Mandarin Orange. Pretty funny to look at, but absolutely delicious. United Supermarkets offers free samples of its fruit to customers, so ask to try one the next time you're out shopping. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
